The Intro Blog: Faith and Good News
Intro
Hi friend! I am honored that you have come to visit this introductory blog post of mine. Other than social media posts, I have not written a blog post since the Xanga and MySpace days. [And you now know my age. You’re welcome.] It is a little intimidating to share my heart and home on the internet, but the Lord is impressing on my heart to share in this way, so here I am.
My hope is that in this space you will find encouragement for your own journey of faith in Jesus, a plant-based lifestyle, homeschool and family discipleship, or maybe just one or two of those that align with your family in this season.
Seeds of Faith
From birth I was blessed to be exposed to the gospel of Jesus. My parents were (and are) committed believers in Jesus, and they were very intentional to teach my brothers and me about our God and show us what it looks like to be a disciple.
At the age of 6, I had a very vivid and terrifying dream about hell. So the following night before bed, by the grace of God, through the movement of the Holy Spirit, and alongside my big brother, I responded to God’s gift of salvation. I admitted my complete need for rescue and my inability to ever save myself. And with delight, I believed what the Bible declares: that Jesus actually took my sin from me and paid for it in full by dying in my place. God did not want us to remain separated from him, so he actually came to earth in the form of a man, lived among us without sin for 33 years, then laid down his life to invite us back into life WITH him! This life begins the moment we repent of our sin and believe his word to accept his gift of redemption… And it continues for eternity!
Dead or Alive?
Jesus did not remain dead, but actually resurrected to life after 3 days in a tomb! He then spent 40 days with his friends, family, and tons of others who witnessed him alive after death. His defeat of even the grave is a promise to us also of eternal life, even after our body’s physical death. We live this life in mortal bodies, but we are first spirit, which is eternal. When we place our faith in Jesus, and then find ourselves IN Christ, God sees us as he sees Jesus himself! We are welcomed back into fellowship with our Father [God], both in this life and for eternity to come in heaven!
This redemption has many implications for the life I now live in Christ, which I hope will be the foundational layer under every post you find on this blog. I will follow up with more about what changed after I was welcomed into the family of God. But for now, do you have any questions about what I shared? Are you curious about this life in Christ Jesus? Where you stand with God is the single most important question to be clear on in this life. If you want to have a conversation about this, or want me to pray for you, send me a message!
Lots of love,
Lizzy
